We ask that folks only sign up for this shift if they have volunteered previously with FTF and are comfortable speaking with folks about their experience with our organization.
This event is an opportunity for veterans in Placer County to get connected with a wide variety of supportive services including but not limited to medical screenings and referrals, veterinary care for pets, assistance navigating VA benefits, housing assistance, and food access. We will be there to spread information about our available food distributions and to help people learn about and sign up for the CalFresh program (CA's food stamps program).
Volunteers will assist our CalFresh staff with explaining the CalFresh program to interested folks and help them complete the signup process. Volunteers will be required to attend an in-person training at the warehouse (date and time TBD) before this event to learn how to walk folks through the CalFresh process and explain the program.
Please check the weather before your shift, this event will be entirely outdoors. We will have a pop-up canopy and chairs, water, sunscreen, and snacks. There will be a limited amount of breakfast food and a full lunch provided by the event. There will also be a dinner provided after the event ends at 4pm if volunteers wish to stay and enjoy the meal.
