This event is an opportunity for local nonprofit organizations to spread the word about the work they do in our community. We will be attending to let folks know about our food distribution efforts and to help people learn about and sign up for the CalFresh program (CA's food stamps program).
We ask that folks only sign up for this shift if they have volunteered previously with FTF and are comfortable speaking with folks about their experience with our organization.
Volunteers will assist our CalFresh staff with explaining the CalFresh program to interested folks and help them complete the signup process. Volunteers will be required to attend an in-person training at the warehouse (date and time TBD) before this event to learn how to walk folks through the CalFresh process and explain the program.
Please check the weather before your shift, this event will be entirely outdoors. We will have a pop-up canopy and chairs, water, sunscreen, and snacks.
