This role is only open to folks who have completed at least 4 prior volunteer shifts with Feeding the Foothills. Because the role entails talking about the food bank with folks in the community, we require you to have some volunteer experience that you can draw from when representing us at events or other outreach opportunities.
This shift will cover how to help out at outreach events, provide general info and answers to FAQs, and walk you through how to prescreen CalFresh applicants. We will go through the basics of the CalFresh program (California's food stamp program), FTF organizational info and history, and how to help folks find resources for additional food support in their community.
It will be in person at our warehouse, and feel free to bring anything you want or need to take notes and/or keep track of the info you're learning if you so desire. Because it will take place at our warehouse, please be sure to wear closed-toe shoes.
