Roseville - Stamp Out Hunger

Expired

Description

We are participating in this nationwide food drive event hosted by the US Postal Service. On Saturday, May 10th, postal carriers will pick up donated food along their routes, and bring it back to certain post offices, where volunteers will unload the food and move it into our trucks so that we can bring it back to the warehouse and give it to folks in need.

We need volunteers to help us unload bags of canned goods from the postal vehicles and transfer it into our large cardboard bins. Our drivers will load the full bins into our truck and periodically drop them off at the warehouse as the trucks fill up.

This shift will take place entirely outdoors, and will be physically demanding. Please sign up only if you are confident you will be able to safely stand and walk on concrete, and lift and carry up to about 30lbs repeatedly for several hours.

We will provide lots of water and snacks, and in years past there has been other food available that the postal workers and their families barbecue on-site. We aren't positive if that will happen again this year, but we hope so. We will have shade canopies and chairs for breaks in the shade, but it will be warm according to the weather forecast.
